What things, we should look into while initializing competitive analysis?

Firstly, identify your potential relevant SEO competitors by keeping in minds, that it’s not necessarily to have competitors those who offer the same products & services that you do. It can be any companies website that competes with you in SERPs(Search engine result pages) on the same targeted keywords.

After identifying and gathering the potential competitors data, validate your competitors by analyzing and filtering which of those are really already ranking and on which keywords they’re ranking, that you targeted.

There after, when you had validated your potential competitors, you can compare your site to your competitors, using all the relevant information’s that you have gathered before by identifying and validating your competitors. This will likely include current website rankings, keyword relevance, avg. search volume, content uniqueness & optimization, existing pages rank, as well as domain’s link popularity, etc.

And at the end, finally analyze and filter the previously gathered information’s for your own web-site as well as your competitors and select your target keywords, by using specified keywords selection process or criteria: Those with the highest relevance, search volume, and profitability etc.
