Highlighting the capabilities of the next generation 5G technology, OPPO has aptly showcased how the power of technology can bring scores of people closer to each other, while helping youngsters explore and chart their future growth story. During the call, the Managing Director of OPPO France, Denis Morel, along with Roland-Garros Director Guy Forget discussed how technology continues to shape the world of sport at large, and motivated young tennis players to adapt to the changing realities and keep chasing their dreams despite the highs and lows.
India was also one among the many countries participating in the call, and rising tennis player Shaikh Humera joined OPPO India’s Hyderabad R&D team to gain this unique experience. Currently ranked No.5 in under-18 category and nine in women’s category, Shaikh Humera had won her maiden national title in under-18 last year.
This call was especially more important during a time when the global pandemic has forced the cancellation of many live sporting events, and possibly transformed the sporting event landscape for the foreseeable future. The company has previously entered many strategic partnerships to amplify brand voice in various sports, including its association with ICC, All England Lawn Tennis Club, and Wimbledon.

Over the years, OPPO has kept its steady focus on product innovation and unique marketing initiatives that create a more immersive experience for its users. Even now, many of the main courts at Roland-Garros will be lit for the first time, allowing for gameplay in lowlight conditions. With this association, both these legends have further exemplified their shared value of constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, and have established themselves as leaders in their domains.
This initiative also re-emphasizes OPPO’s commitment to 5G technology of the future, and how it has continuously worked in that direction to bring some of the most unique, customer-centric innovations to the fore. Earlier this year, OPPO had become the first smartphone brand to successfully conduct a 5G WhatsApp call in India on its flagship 5G-enabled device, the Find X2 Pro. OPPO’s R&D centre in Hyderabad conducted the call while simultaneously displaying the 5G band and speed, and also showcased the capabilities of the next-gen network by demonstrating fast movie downloads and cloud gaming facilities. And now, through this collaboration, it has leveraged the power of 5G to facilitate key connections, and build more understanding of the impact of technology on sports like tennis.
